2012 Cruise-in Huge Success

About 340 cars visited MAPS for the 3rd annual MAPS Cruise-in.  In total about 940 visitors either participated or came to see the show.  All the members who supported this event should be commended on their effort.  It was a long hot day but everyone did their part to make it a memorable event for our guests.  Thank You!

Many additional activities were provided for our guests to enjoy.  Native Americans performed a dance and drum demonstration.  The Model-T Club took apart their breakdown Model-T.  But the biggest surprise was during the starting of the PT-19.

The PT-19 crew planned on starting the engine several times during the day.  We had a pleasant surprise when Barb Bergstrom showed up at the Cruise-in.  Barb is the person who owned and flew the PT-19 until it became too costly to maintain.  She donated the PT-19 to MAPS around 2001 and has visited several times only to see the aircraft in the same stripped down condition.  This time was different.  She walked up to the plane and was amazed at the progress.  Someone on the crew asked her if she wanted to start it.  She almost jumped into the cockpit.  When she started the engine, the tears started to roll down her cheeks.  The day was special because the PT-19′s hard work has payed off as shown when they touched Barb’s heart and brought that beautiful smile to her face.  Great Job Guys!
