C-47 Gets a new paint job

The C-47 is now a work of art in full scale.  Congratulations to the crew who have spent almost 3,000 hours restoring her.  They have worked very hard to complete the port side of the aircraft for our visitors to the Wings of Freedom Tour this weekend.  Great Job guys!

    Kim,

My father served from ’44-’46 with the ATC in the Army Air Corp. I’m writing because, before his death in 2006 he had often told us of the story of when he was flying a C-47 called “The Ruptured Duck” over North Africa in January 1945. Anyhow, they had gotten lost and had to make an emergency landing. (Dad always said it was because the crew were playing pinochle and not paying attention.)

Anyway, my question is whether or not this might be that very C-47 my dad flew on in ’45. I realize that “Ruptured Duck” became a popular moniker after the Doolittle raid, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it were not the case but I thought I would ask nonetheless. I found more pictures at this link:

did you ever get the photos I sent you?
I and my family visited your museum on May 20. You gave us a tour, 1 of my family members was in a wheel chair.
Please let me know if you got them?
