Renovation Activities ~ As of 6/17/24June 17, 2024MAPS Air Museum will be Closed July 4thJune 28, 2024 From Ken Ramsay: Bending over to work on the F-105’s centerline pylon’s weapon mount was getting tiresome so Paul is making an assembly jig for it. Some of the Corsair landing gear parts had severe pitting on the surface. Jody said, “I can fix that”, so he did (2 photos). Dave attached the Corsair’s wing fold mechanism to the left inner wing. It looks great and works even better (5 photos) Our new member, Dakota, is helping Dennis and Ray form Corsair leading edge ribs (2 photos). The aliuminum has been glued onto one of the Cutlass’s wing access doors. Hole drilling is next. And Dan is applying the glue for the second access door. The PVC is clamped to the aluminum (top photo too). And once the PVC glue is dry the top aluminum sheet is glued to the PVC and voila, we have another access door ready for drilling. Chris Paprocki is back in town and came in for a visit. Last Monday thru Thursday noon we had our new transformer system installed. They had a little extra copper cable which Larry will recycle. We ordered a new welder so that we can weld aluminum. It arrived Saturday. Lessons will be conducted in the near future. Share
