Come to the Pancake Breakfast!
Where INTERNSHIPS also participate at MAPS Air Museum!
MAPS Air Museum offers Internship opportunities to students at all levels of their academic career. Sarah Christensen, Walsh University senior, is completing her Museum Studies Capstone Project this semester at MAPS. Sarah has a double major in Museum Studies and Music, making Glenn Miller a significant choice.
All the exhibits at MAPS are meant to ask the visitor to think beyond the moment and to leave with more knowledge than they came in with.
Sarah tasked herself with the project to inform museum visitors about why Glenn Miller is known as the Grandfather of Modern Military Music. She will be accomplishing this by creating an exhibit located under the wing of the B-26 with Glenn Miller with his instrument of choice (trombone) and two soldiers listening to a radio broadcasting from Glenn Millers I Sustain the Wings series. To Quote Sarah: “Not many understand why we view being a part of military bands to be so important. No matter what branch of service one is a part of, all their bands have such a big role and great accomplishments”.
The highlight of the exhibit will be a live performance by Swingin’ Along and Dukes of Darrowville during the pancake breakfast and the New Horizons Band performing just after the pancake breakfast at 1pm.
