Renovation Activities ~ 10/9/20
October 9, 2020From Ken Ramsay:
Reminder, next Saturday will be clean-up morning.
- Repair of the Drake’s keel keeps moving along. I don’t think I’ve seen that many clecos in one place before. This photo shows the new center piece (silver) that John and Ken O. made for the repair.
- Aft looking forward of the repair area.
- Four more sparrow missiles are being planned so we have a bunch of Sparrow fins in the works.
- Right side of the F-102 is nearing completion. Still lots of sanding is needed.
- And Dan finished the tail cone for the new drop tank. The second cone is in progress.
- Made some progress on the F-102’s elevon or flaperon or what ever it is called. Will trial fit the mount structure (long thin piece in photo) on Wednesday.
- A new aircraft has arrived. I don’t have the story yet, stay tuned.
- This is an artists rendition of the new hanger we are planning. Twice the size of our current hanger.
- With Kent’s blessing, Paul finished installing the remaining ribs on the F-105’s stabilizer. Fabricating the skin is next.
- The crew is making support structure for the Corsair. It needs to be raised up so wing structure can be planned.
- And the skinning of the other horizontal stabilizer has begun.
- The OV-1 now has engines and no longer needs a tail brace.
