2023 Winter Hours
December 7, 2022From Ken Ramsay:
- The Corsair’s landing gear structure is test fitted to the forward wing structure. Looks nice and strong.
- Dave made final installation check of the elevators and they work very nicely. Will eventually be connected to the control stick.
- Seat cushions were fabricated for the H-19’s cockpit.
- And Ron is welding the tow bar for the helicopter.
- Kathy Jo continues to paint the F-86A Sabre (and photo on top).
- Lookin good.
- The Cutlass is going to be a challenge. Lots of corrosion and delimitation. This is the left outer wing bottom side up.
- Inside the hinged panels. We removed 5 gallons of critter nests.
- The B-26 crew made a seal ring for the upper turret. Lots of sophisticated bending.
- A panel that needs a lot of work. All of the locking pins are frozen (rust). We managed to get 5 freed up and working.
- This is an end view of the skin covering the wing and flaperon. Two thin (.015) thick pieces of aluminum sandwiching 3/8 sheet of balsa wood.
- The Timken display is very popular with visitors.
