Happy Thanksgiving!November 23, 20222023 Winter HoursDecember 7, 2022 From Ken Ramsay: The Corsair’s landing gear structure is test fitted to the forward wing structure. Looks nice and strong. Dave made final installation check of the elevators and they work very nicely. Will eventually be connected to the control stick. Seat cushions were fabricated for the H-19’s cockpit. And Ron is welding the tow bar for the helicopter. Kathy Jo continues to paint the F-86A Sabre (and photo on top). Lookin good. The Cutlass is going to be a challenge. Lots of corrosion and delimitation. This is the left outer wing bottom side up. Inside the hinged panels. We removed 5 gallons of critter nests. The B-26 crew made a seal ring for the upper turret. Lots of sophisticated bending. A panel that needs a lot of work. All of the locking pins are frozen (rust). We managed to get 5 freed up and working. This is an end view of the skin covering the wing and flaperon. Two thin (.015) thick pieces of aluminum sandwiching 3/8 sheet of balsa wood. The Timken display is very popular with visitors. Share
