Memorial Day 2024May 27, 2024MAPS Air Museum in the News – Vintage Aviation NewsMay 28, 2024 From Ken Ramsay: Ray fabricated leading edge pieces for the J-3 Cub wing. He is now installing them. The wing pylons for the F-105 are coming along. Evelyn has changed from painting ejection seats to disassembling the Cutlass wing. The top of this Cutlass wing rib was completely rotted away, thus no way to attach the skin. So, a piece of 1/8 inch aluminum strip is screwed to the rib using angle brackets. Now we have something to screw the skin to. Exhaust cover for the A-7 is getting its marking (Top photo is the “After” photo). Yes, the centers of the letters have been removed. The right wheel of the F-86D keeps going flat. Jerry has taken on the task of fixing it. The tire is very difficult to remove. Part of the Corsair’s wing fold mechanism has been fabricated. Excellent design by Dave and assembled by Tom. Trial fit of the wing fold hinge. A little snug (a lot snug). A slight modification will be required. Ron is overhauling an old Craftsman band saw recently donated to MAPS. I have one just like it in my basement, bought it in 1971. The unsung heroes that keep MAPS looking nice. Share
