Museum Aircraft History Series ~ Douglas A-4A “Skyhawk”
February 4, 2021From Ken Ramsay:
- Before we get to MAPS, here is something you might find interesting.
- Al designed, printed and applied a line drawing to the Super Sabre Museum door.
- Got the repair panel fitted on the left side of the F-105s aft fuselage. The rivets have been installed along the top, need 2 men to do the rest.
- Paul is working on a new design for the afterburner hinge cover.
- New skin continues to be installed on the H-19. Panels are only held on with clecoes, riveting will happen once all skin fitting is complete.
- Left side
- Tom is removing the old rivets from the H-19’s aft fairing. He has a cool tool that centers itself over a round head rivets and then drills out the rivet.
- Chet has cleaned and painted the ADF antenna housing for the Beech. ADF means Automatic Direction Finder.
- Another view of the hanger.
- The banquet hall bar is getting its final Formica covering. Looks like marble.
From Ronald Schultz:
The MAPS Air Museum website had a quiet (hopefully, since that is the point) transition to updated Theme software. The previous software, used for the last 10 years on the site, was no longer supported and was starting to affect individual pages on an increasing basis. In addition, some new graphics were added recently to give a more modern, clean look to the site. Examples are the Contact Us page, where photos for the Administrators and Board of Directors were added and the Join Us Page, where a Table was added for a clean look on Membership Benefits. Expect more tweaks to the transition and updates to other pages in the future.
