From Ken Ramsay: This email deals with the assembly of our F-86A Sabre, 48-263. The wings were installed last Wednesday and the wheels, brakes and vertical stabilizer tip today. My thanks to everyone who helped put the historic aircraft together.
Turning over the left wing.
The lift points that Ron made worked very nicely to lift the wing.
Positioning the wing was an exact science. Very precise hole location.
Lots of bolts and nuts to install.
Both top and bottom.
And the left wing is installed.
Now the right wing.
Chain lift working well.
And the right wing is on.
Dan connecting the wing tip light wires to the electrical panel.
Vertical stabilizer and rudder tips being installed by Chet with Dave manning the fork lift.
Left wheel and brake installed.
48-263 on its landing gear for the first time in over 60 years (and top photo).
(Extra photo) This was the F-86A on its arrival to MAPS back in 2014. Over 8 years of work in the Area 51 renovation hangar.
